US Citizen Detained As Young Girl Run Over, Dies; Youth Killed
KUWAIT CITY, Aug 24: A young girl, whose identity has not been disclosed, died when she was allegedly run over by an unidentified American motorist on a road in Faha-heel, reports Al-Rai daily.
Acting on information paramedics rushed to the scene of the accident and took the girl to the Adan Hospital but she was declared dead upon arrival.
The remains of the victim have been referred to Forensics. The American has been detained at the area police station for interrogation.

Fake police rob man: Police are looking for three people for impersonating police and stealing cell phone and KD 200 cash from an Asian man, reports Al-Anba daily.
According to the complaint filed by the man the impersonators told him to show his ID. When the man pulled out his wallet from the pocket, one of the man snatched the wallet and cell phone and escaped in a car.
A case has been registered at the Khaitan Police Station.

Unfit food seized: The Kuwait Municipality, Hawalli branch is said to have recently raided a restaurant in Hawalli and confiscated three tons of chicken and meat because it was unfit for human consumption, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
In other news the same personnel reportedly raided a store in Salmiya and seized 940 kilos of expired foodstuffs of various kinds.
The daily added the ‘cheats’ have been referred to the concerned authority for legal action.

Bootleggers held: The Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh police during a campaign against illegal residents and violators of law are said to have arrested three Asians for trading in locally manufactured booze, reports Al-Anba daily.
Police have reportedly seized from the men 15 bottles of booze and referred the bootleggers and the booze to the authorities.
Meanwhile, the Hawalli police have reportedly arrested eight people in connection with crimes.
In other news, the Jahra police have arrested 35 expatriates for violating residence laws.
All those arrested have been referred to the concerned authorities.

Asian held with drugs: An Asian expatriate was arrested by security operatives in possession of 150 grams of heroin and 1,000 narcotic pills, based on a tip-off the Acting Assistant Undersecretary for Criminal Security Affairs Major General Sheikh Ahmad Al-Khalifa received about his activities.
According to an Interior Ministry press release, a team of detectives was formed to monitor the suspect and the contraband was found hidden inside a mattress when security operatives raided his flat. He was referred to drug prosecution.

Woman mugged: Police are looking for an unidentified person for stealing the handbag belonging to a Kuwaiti woman. The bag contained expensive watch and KD 2,000, reports Al-Anba daily.
In her complaint to the Farwaniya police, the woman said the suspect surprised her when she was about to get into her car which was parked in the parking lot of a commercial complex in the area. The man allegedly snatched the handbag and escaped on foot.

Wanted man nabbed: Immigration officers at the Kuwait International Airport are said to have arrested an unidentified Kuwaiti man and prevented him from leaving the country, reports Al-Anba daily.
According to reports the man is wanted by law for issuing dud cheques and other crimes related to financial frauds.
At the time of the arrest the man was reportedly wearing a watch worth KD 10,000 and expensive sunglasses.
The daily added the man owes KD 50,000 to various people. Since he had been sentenced in absentia, he has been handed over to the Sentences Enforcement Department.
